On the 5th day of Christmas Gaming my true love gave to meeeeeeeeee…..

5 Goooooolllllld Ingooooooots…….

It’s a difficult thing to get 5 gold ingots in Stone Age, but I did it!  In this worker placement design by Bernd Brunnhofer, the resource acquisition mechanism is very unique and challenging.  When you go to a spot to gather resources you can put as many workers as you want.  You will roll a die for each worker you send there.  Depending on what you roll will determine how many of that resource you will get.  Wood is easiest while gold takes some high rolling.  For every 3 pips on your die you gather one wood….gold takes 6 pips each. Getting gold takes lots of workers, but once you get gold you usually don’t need to go there very much more.  I was able to use my gold to gain buildings on my way to victory.  While I was getting an early lead, Grant and Jenny used end game bonuses to make it much closer than any of us thought it would be.  I was able to win by only 15 points.  I love Stone Age for it’s simplicity yet multiple strategies to victory.
