1565 Siege of Malta is a solo only game designed by the very talented Maurice Suckling of Freeman’s Farm 1777 and Chancellorsville 1863 fame and deals with The Great Siege, as it’s also known in history, where the Ottoman Turk’s westward expansion broke against the wall of Christian defense on the small but strategically significant archipelago of Malta in the Western Mediterranean. The Ottoman Turk invasion force was huge as the armada delivering the troops was almost three times the size of the vaunted Spanish Armada defeated by the English (and the weather) in 1588. It was supported by around 40,000 troops. Malta was defended by around 500 Knights of St. John and 5-6,000 other soldiers, including civilians.
We published an interview with the designer Maurice Suckling and you can read that at the following link: https://theplayersaid.com/2021/04/29/interview-with-maurice-suckling-designer-of-1565-siege-of-malta-from-worthington-publishing-currently-on-kickstarter/
I also wrote a First Impressions post on the game and you can read that at the following link: https://theplayersaid.com/2022/06/08/first-impressions-1565-siege-of-malta-from-worthington-publishing/

A few observations after watching your stoic efforts here :
a) This particular “State of Siege” game is not two player.
b) On your first attack on St. Angelo ( with an Aggressive Commander action added ), you incorrectly removed your losses (3) from “the Marsa” instead of “the Birgu Approach.
c) I note you have used a “B” defense order for the card that has this information missing – IMHO this is incorrect, and the correct order should be a “C”. This is based on a review of the total number of A,B,C and D cards in both decks ( rather than simply applying the letter missing from the “Conflict in Turkish Command ” group of cards” ). But, if you want to stick with “B” that’s OK !
d) It appears this game may be too biased towards the Knights. I have concocted a variant to hopefully fix this, as follows :
1. Each time a Die Roll result from Correlated Orders lists a 2 ( or a -2 Morale ) for the Turks ( only ), treat it as a 1 ( or a -1 Morale ).
2. Likewise any 3 result should be treated as a 2 result.
3. Reduce any morale losses ( caused by troop losses ) the same way.
4. These changes apply to BOTH order books, but only for the Turks !
5. There are two exceptions : Knights Order 6 results and Turks Order 1 results ( as these already appear to be balanced ).
