Bar-Lev: The 1973 Arab-Israeli War, Deluxe Third Edition is an updated treatment of the GDW release originally published in 1977, remastered and updated in this very nice looking, all-new, deluxe edition. Either of the two fronts (the Golan Heights and the Suez Canal) may be gamed separately, or both can be linked to simulate the course of the entire war.

Alexander… I almost passed this up. Decades ago, I bought “Arab-Israeli War” by AH, and was bitterly disappointed. While the production quality was high, and the mapboards mounted, the game was so unbalanced, it just collected dust on my shelf… what was the point of playing the understrengthed Arabs ? This game, however, looks like it has some good balance. The production quality of the counters is stellar, and while the maps are upgraded paper, they appear to be very effective in terms of their content. I especially liked how the “reduced side” of the counters were a different color… a very nice touch. I’d love to see the review, to see how the CRT works and what the stacking limits are. With that many units, I’m sure the boards can get pretty chaotic. Overall, ANOTHER great unboxing! Thanks!
