Wonderful little interview. I like Harold’s approach to game design. It looks like Flashpoint SCS will not be a traditional hex & counter wargame but a game of influence placement? Can’t wait for this one!

Yes. It is a very different game similar to games like Fort Sumter and even Twilight Struggle. It’s like a tug of war back and forth for control of areas. Great fun that plays in about 45 minutes.

It seems to me it is influenced more by 13 Days: Cuban Missile Crisis. Cards, ops, three truns, influence.

Searched the blog for this game and saw you had an interview with Harold not quite 4 years ago. Seems the game has been percolating quite awhile. The game is scheduled to ship next week, and I’m still very curious about gameplay impressions of the finished product. It seems like the game has been flying a bit under the radar lately.
