The chit-pull mechanic in Battle Hymn is what makes this game. The initiative player having their Combat chit in hand is very powerful. Totally agree about the terrain.
One warning – Gettysburg being so well “known” is good, but to really see the beauty of the game try Pea Ridge. For myself I went into Pea Ridge with far fewer preconceptions which greatly increased my joy in exploring the battle.
