The Battle of Five Armies is an Ameritrash board game based on the end of The Hobbit when Smaug the dragon is killed by the Black Arrow of Bard the Bowman and sees the powers in the region come to claim the spoils of the dragon’s hoard in the Lonely Mountain. The five armies include the hosts of the Elven King Thranduil from Mirkwood, the Dwarves of the Iron Hills lead by Dain Ironfoot, the Men of the Lake led by Bard the Bowman, the Great Eagles and a massive hoard of wolves, Goblins and bats led by Bolg, son of Azog.

The Battle of Five Armies is played on a large game board representing the Eastern and Southern spurs of the Lonely Mountain and the valley they encircle, and uses a number of plastic figures representing troops, heroes and monsters.

The Battle of Five Armies is a standalone game based on the rules for War of the Ring, which is from the same designers, but with the rules modified to function at a tactical level as they describe a smaller battle rather than the entire war.
