Several years ago, we became aware of a new upcoming game that tackled the politics and processes of the U.S. Supreme Court in a 2-hour game called First Monday in October: The U.S. Supreme Court, 1798-2010. The game was announced on Kickstarter last month and we had a chance to play it this past weekend and it was really very good. The game is a Euro game, so not a wargame, but is a very interesting look at over 200 years of landmark cases that have been decided by the Supreme Court and you have a hand in that process. From sponsoring candidates for appointment to the Court, to advocating for or against the cases based on your position in the game. Really well oiled experience with some very tough choices about how to strategically accomplish your goals while also hindering, or at least not helping, your competition.
We were able to post an interview with the designer Talia Rosen and you can read that at the following link: https://theplayersaid.com/2024/11/14/interview-with-talia-rosen-designer-of-first-monday-in-october-the-u-s-supreme-court-1798-2010-from-fort-circle-games-coming-to-kickstarter-november-19th/
